How much does a website cost in Ireland?

Short answer for 2026: anywhere from €5 a month to €5,000 up front, for what looks like the same thing from the outside. The spread is not a scam. You are paying for different amounts of human time. Here is what each option really costs and who it suits.

Option 1: a web design agency (€1,500 to €5,000+)

An agency gives you meetings, a designer, a copywriter and a project manager. For a local service business the typical quote we hear in Ireland sits between €1,500 and €5,000, plus €20 to €50 a month for hosting and maintenance. Changes after launch are often billed by the hour.

Worth it when your website IS the business: e-commerce, bookings with payments, anything custom. Overkill for "people should find me and call me".

Option 2: a freelancer (€500 to €1,500)

A good freelancer builds the same five-page site for a third of the agency price. The risk is not quality, it is continuity. When you need a price changed next year, the freelancer may have a full-time job and a two-week backlog. Ask how updates work before you pay, not after.

Option 3: DIY builders like Wix or Squarespace (€10 to €30 a month)

The monthly fee looks small. The real cost is your weekend: pick a template, write every line of text, resize photos, fight the editor. Most owners we talk to started a DIY site once and never finished it. If you enjoy that work, this is the cheapest route. If you do not, the site stays half-built forever.

Option 4: AI builders (€5 to €35 a month)

The newest option. Instead of an empty template you get a finished draft built from data that already exists about your business. One more number people forget: the cost of having no website. If a single customer a month picks a competitor because they could not find your prices or opening hours, that is likely more than €35 gone.
